EPOS functionality and security enhancements are continually updated, and Data Security and Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements continue to change. It is each site’s responsibility to ensure the software in their point-of-sale system is kept up to date and operating in compliance with Brand functionality, and PCI rules.
With PCI version 4 requirements, sites are expected to manage their end-of-life (EOL) technology obligations actively. As part of our support of this requirement, we will monitor for EOL payment technologies used by sites and make information available to maintain the payment network’s good standing. In other words, as software becomes end-of-life, we will expect sites to upgrade software and hardware in order to manage and meet their PCI obligations.
END OF SUPPORT:
- Verifone has previously announced an end of support for software v53.40.xx, with extended support provided for security vulnerabilities available through 12/31/2025.
Our latest version available for Verifone Commander is v54.02
NOTE: Verifone has previously announced that the upcoming v55 software will be the last version to support older hardware, and the New Verifone C18 platform will be required for the v56 (coming late 2025) and later software. Sites should consider hardware upgrades as a part of their long term upgrade plans.
The EPOS vendors and software versions supported for use at Phillips 66, 76 and Conoco branded locations can be found on the EPOS Platforms page on Gateway. The table is updated as new software versions become available or are anticipated, and the table also indicates the versions considered to be outdated and no longer supported. Anything older than the current approved version(s) should be upgraded to avoid potential fees, lack of functionality, or potential debrand.
Verifone specific versions and dates shown below:

Sites not running supported software will incur non-compliance fees according to the dates on the chart above.
For the most recent EOL announcement, for version 53.40.XX, sites will be billed $500 starting on their EOL date, and will escalate to $2000 after 3 billing cycles.
