As previously communicated, Verifone discontinued the sale of Topaz XL 410, Ruby2, RubyCi, Ruby2 iOrder on September 30, 2023.  Verifone will no longer make new features available in software intended to run on these discontinued devices after v55 software.  Version 55.02.04 is the last version of software that will run on these devices.  The New Verifone C18 platform will be required for the v56 and later software.  Sites should consider hardware upgrades as a part of their long term upgrade plans.

Installation:

Sites should work with Verifone or their local installer for this software installation and any site specific needs.

  • Sites using Gilbarco Flexpay 4 pumps will require pump firmware of  04.13.24 or 05.13.24 or newer, depending on if the site is using 4.0 or 5.0 PCI DSS version. Sites that have Gilbarco Flexpay 4 pumps, but do not have the minimum required firmware version could experience issues with pumps rebooting.
  • The site, or installing technician must call in to the Phillips 66 helpdesk prior to beginning the installation to request an EMV PDL update for the new software.  Sites that do not have an updated EMV PDL will receive a PDL failure message until the EMV PDL is downloaded, and could experience issues accepting cards at the dispenser.

Software/PCI Compliance/EMV

Phillips 66 recommends that EPOS software be maintained to the most current update, or at minimum must run an approved version listed on Phillips 66 Gateway.  v55.02+ software is certified to the new PCI SSF standard and can be used by the sites to support their PCI compliance requirements. Software updates may require additional hardware updates and/or a technician visit to complete the upgrade and configurations. Completing hardware upgrades for Outside EMV remain as a marketer/site choice, however, the EMV liability for all chargebacks did shift to all sites on April 16, 2021.

Verifone has previously announced an end of support for software v53.40.xx, with extended support provided for security vulnerabilities available through 12/31/2025.  Sites running expired software are subject to non-compliance fees, and are not eligible for software troubleshooting and support. Please take action to upgrade this software immediately.
