Phillips 66® teamed up with the St. Louis Cardinals and Afton Little League to deliver a one-of-a-kind Cardinals experience for our Home Plate Series—bringing big league experiences to young baseball players. On June 9, the Phillips 66 and the Cardinals’ mascot, Fredbird, showed up to the game to bring this major league atmosphere to the youth league field. In addition to Fredbird making an appearance, gameday announcements were made by the legendary John Ulett, custom jerseys were hand delivered to players, and Cardinals alumni Kyle McClennan and Jon Jay cheered the teams on during the big Hornets vs. Orange Sox game.
After bringing the Cardinals to the Afton Little League, we brought the teams to Busch Stadium. As a part of the Home Plate Series on June 11, we recognized the participating Afton Little League players at the Cardinals game and one young player got to take the major league mound to throw the first game pitch for the Cardinals vs. Reds game.
As Phillips 66 makes connections with some of the best players in the MLB, we also understand how important it is to instill young athletes with the same dedication, pride and excitement we bring to major league events. With activities like the Home Plate Series, we are taking major strides in championing the members of your community, as recreational sports are proven to improve educational and occupational skills and decrease anxiety and depression, with young athletes eight times more likely to continue physical activities into their early adulthood. As we proudly displayed your brand’s name onto this game, educational sponsorships and volunteer opportunities across the market, Phillips 66 is letting new and loyal consumers know that your brand is not just in their community, but also a part of the community through it all.
